I'm Marc Gitterle, a physician in the Texas Hill Country.
As a physician for the past 38 years, I've been privileged to practice and teach medicine, for the most part as a hospital-based physician. For 22 years, I served as an attending Emergency Medicine physician, Hyperbaric Physician, and Wound Specialist. Since 2010, my practice has centered on the care of patients with complex wounds.
I serve as Chief Medical Officer of WoundCentrics, LLC a national specialty group, and am a founding partner of True Woundcare, LLC. I've been principal investigator on more than twenty randomized clinical trials in wound healing, and I teach accredited postgraduate courses for physicians in both wound care and hyperbaric medicine.
Wound healing taught me something that shapes everything I write here. The body repairs itself constantly, and the pace of that repair is not fixed. Food, movement, sleep, hormones, and stress all change it. The same biology that decides how fast a wound heals also shapes how we age.
That idea became my book, Growing Young — and the new 2026 edition expands it with updates on exciting research in the area of tissue and cell-level rejuvenation and practical, non-drug approaches that have advanced greatly since the first edition was published in 2010.
This site brings it all together: the book, a newsletter for those who want to stay up-to-date and go deeper, and articles with evidence-based information that you are unlikely to find elsewhere. My hope is that you find insights here that make your life healthier, and happier.
